It’s not pure coincidence that Phil DeVille and Mandy Smith crossed paths, it was destiny.  Lovers of  roots  music and Texas music, each was on a similar mission to record and perform  their original songs. That's  exactly what they did and many albums later that's what they are still  doing today.

Phil DeVille lead singer, writer and guitar player, male muse of Smith DeVille, started his career  playing his own kind of Rockabilly in his band Mustang Lightning and has a great following  in Denver Colorado where he still plays today at the Skylark Lounge.  Phil spent ten year performing in New  Orleans where he was signed to Monkey Hill records and New Rose records in France (1993).  He worked with Cowboy Mouth, Allan Toussaint, Alex Chilton, Michael Ray and Andre Williams  and once he came to Houston he was fully immersed in the scene.  He's played  with many  different bands to include the Albert Storo Blues band where he crossed paths with Mandy  Smith in Kemah Texas one summer night.

Mandy Smith, singer songwriter from Houston Texas was writing and performing original roots  music around  the gulf coast (2002) and was in the final stages of completing her first  album which sparked the influence  and production of DeVille’s musical expertise.   They  released the self-titled album Mandy Smith Group  (2003) and then within a year also released  the very well received West Texas Sun (2004) at the Hard Rock Cafe.

Hot Town Cool City (2007) a documentary film produced by Maureen McNamara asked Mandy to be on the sound track and do a cameo appearance in the film which was released on  PBS about the incredibly unique Houston Art Scene.  The  albums she’s released to date  include Mandy Smith Group (2002), West Texas  Sun (2003), Comin  Hom e(2004) and Texas Star  (2008).  She has just released the song "
Ranch Hand Man" with Smith DeVille and will be releasing over a dozen new songs this year! Smith DeVille continue to  write, record and perform in the Houston/Katy/Hill Country and Texas Gulf Coast Region.
